Here's a flyer on this Spring's (well, it's Spring down here) event! I really hope that some of you can come down and check it out. You won't be disappointed!
http://www.hapkido.com/Seminars/2008_Spring_Seminar.htm
(you save money and get a certificate by registering early)
Grand Master J.R. West will be hosting the event and, as I've said before, he's the kind-of guy that just makes you feel at home. Literally.
Dr. Kimm is my GM's GM and he's pretty famous. He's going to have his books available there and is going to be doing signings. This is a rare opportunity for us practitioners of Korean Martial Arts. You really never know when these "living legends" will be unable to attend events like these.
The Clarion is a pretty decent hotel to stay at. If you're wanting to bring family with you, I'd recommend the Drury or something similar. There's many hotels nearby. I choose the Clarion because... well, heck... it's easier to wake up and just walk downstairs, barefooted.
Fun will be had by all! I hope some of you can go. Let me know if you can! I'm driving so why waste money on a rental car or taxi when I can just come getcha'?
I plan on getting a room with two double-size beds in it. If you're a dood, you're welcome to share it with me. I wouldn't recommend going to sleep early around me, though. Just kidding!
Talk to you later!

Nice Leo, thanks for the link. I have been interested in GM West's Seminar for a while now and will make an effort to attend this year's event. _________________

Hey Leo,
That looks like a great opportunity. Master Circle mentioned this to me and I'm going to give it strong consideration. You don't know how many chances you have in life to attend these things so I'd hate to miss out.

It's all very fun!
As we draw closer to the event, let me know if you gents decide to make it down for sure.
I could literally go on-and-on about this, but I'll spare you.

Well everyone, I'll be on the road to Jackson, MS here in a few hours. I am not taking a camera this time around so I won't have any pictures this time. I'll be sure to write a quick report when I get back.
I hope you all have a great weekend! Try to stay warm!

Well, I thought about this for a few and I’ll spare the long, drawn-out, write-up on this event. I will, however, give you the highlights.
First, I was promoted. That’s always a nice feeling. I’m now a 7th Gup.
Second, my Master was promoted to 7th Dan. That was awesome!
Third, I got to go to a couple of GM J.R. West’s classes. The first one was a “stupid techniques” class where he taught us odd moves that you would more than likely find helpful in a true attack. The second class was on how to read and write in Hangul. Master Holcombe Thomas also helped with that class. It was great!
Finally, I got to train with Master Ray Terry. He’s the guy that runs The Dojang Digest. He’s extremely good with knife tactics and trained us on a bunch of defenses against knife fighters.
The seminar was great! I met a lot of friends from the last time I was there, and met a lot of new ones. _________________ Tang Soo!

The seminar sounds like it was great Leo
Congrats on your promotion. Keep training hard.
I like Master Terry's attitude and I think what he does for Korean MA's is huge with the Dojang Digest
I have been a member since I lived in Seoul.
Sorry I couldn't make the trip this year, but I haven't given up hope to attend next year. Does SkyBus fly anywhere near Jackson _________________

haha! Yes, I believe Skybus goes to Biloxi (South MS), then you'd have to rent a car for a 3 hour drive.
Master Terry was very down to Earth! Did you know he's from Ohio!? LOL! Small world... he's also a OSU alum. We had a pretty good conversation, and I learned "a lot" from him!
The event is semi-annual, so there will be another one this Fall. It'd be great if you could come one day, but it is understandable that "life happens."
Talk to you later! _________________ Tang Soo!
